Nightbird was founded in April of 2015 by owner/stylist Lowry Beall.

Lowry has been a stylist for over 15 years and was extensively trained in New York City at the Aveda Institute in Soho. Over the years she's worked with musicians, artists, models, moms and everything in between.

She sharpened her craft through many advanced education classes in styling, cutting and color with Vidal Sassoon's Advanced Academy in London, Bumble & Bumble NYC, Toni & Guy NYC, Wella, Aveda, Davines, Kevin Murphy and with famed celebrity stylist Oribe. In NYC, she was a senior stylist at Woodley & Bunny, one of Elle Magazine's top 100 salons nationally, featured in Vogue, GQ, Nylon, NY Times, NY Magazine, Refinery29, Allure, Real Simple, Marie Claire, Paper, Time Out, Esquire, Oprah, Conde Nast, W, and InStyle magazine, among others. She has worked NYC's famed Fashion Week, as well as Charleston Fashion Week, along with styling many editorial shoots, weddings, music videos, film and theatrical productions.

Lowry is a huge fan of soft, natural textures and vibrant color in hair. She loves enhancing and bringing out natural wave with razor cuts, as well as creating sharp Sassoon-inspired lines. She specializes in sun-kissed bayalage and also loves to create bold reds, pale blondes and rich chocolate brunettes. She's a bit obsessed with creating the perfect fringe.

Lowry hails from historic Charleston, South Carolina and grew up surrounded by ancient oak trees and the Atlantic Ocean. She is a friendly Southern gal who will immediately put you at ease with her laid back style and warm personality. In her spare time, you can find her attending concerts, going on long walks around town with her dog Archie, watching independent and classic films and daydreaming about traveling the globe.

Diane is a highly experienced precision stylist who has trained in numerous cutting techniques.  After graduating with honors from the San Francisco Institute of Esthetics and Cosmetology, a Paul Mitchell Partner School, in 2009 she was recruited by Juut Salon Spa, one of the top Aveda salons in the Bay Area where she worked for nine years. During her time behind the chair she was given extensive advanced education through Aveda, Vidal Sassoon, Oribe, Kevin Murphy and Toni and Guy, just to name a few.

In addition to her work in the salon Diane has applied her skills to photo shoots, fashion runways and various historical societies. Her work has been featured in magazines such as Vogue Italia, Vecu, and Antler. From Madmen to Marie Antoinette, she has a passion for the recreation of historical hair and fashion.

Some of Diane's favorite clients are those with thinning hair.  She embraces the challenge that thinning hair poses and works hard to make a little hair look like a lot. Regardless of who is in her chair, Diane strives to celebrate each client's unique style and individuality.

Diane is originally from California and relocated to Portland in 2017. She was drawn to the city by the natural beauty, eclectic culture, and vibrant food scene.
She is a lifelong learner, globetrotter, historical hair enthusiast, foodie and Halloween fanatic.
